The XX

This band flies all the way from Wandsworth, South West London, England. They formed in 2005 and in recent days they have been causing an infection that even Coachella could not resist. If you are the type of person that likes to judge based on look and try to categorize on that, you are in for a big surprise.

The simplicity that this band shows in their style of playing is quite “hypnotic.” I truly canʼt find other words to describe the sound that travels through them. From their black outfits, echoing guitars, steady bass, and their electric drum machine only invites you to get lost.

Romy Croft’s sweet and tender voice mixed with the melancholy voice of Oliver Sim leads us down the rabbit hole of darkness. When we think of a build up, we may think of a 2 minute intro to a song and then the fireworks go off, the opening track is the build up and it will set the tone for the album. You canʼt go wrong with this band. From people that like electro, post punk, ambient, or whatever, this is a band you MUST check out.

Hand picked tracks: Crystalized, Heart Skipped a Beat, Islands, and my favorite Night Time.
