AT&T was kind enough to send over the PadFone X pack, as well as the bluetooth wireless Mobile Dock to test out. I was pleasantly surprised by both the speed of the devices and the little-to-no downtime when switching from smartphone to tablet. Not to mention the lengthy battery life. When the phone is docked, it provides two times longer battery life thanks to the tablets separate internal battery. This is key when traveling.
The ASUS PadFone X combines both a 5-inch smartphone and a tablet into one unique package. By simply sliding the phone into the back of the tablet, a 9-inch full HD screen activates and you pickup where you left off on your phone. There is absolutely no downtime since the apps instantaneously auto-adjust to the screen size.
The PadFone X runs the latest version of Android KitKat, and features a Near-Field Communications (NFC) sensor that supports AT&T’s mobile payments system, aka. Isis Mobile Wallet. The NFC sensor works together with a secure SIM card, allowing users an easy way to pay and redeem loyalty cards at participating merchants nationwide.
