As we have all been aware of for quite some time, the United States has a food problem. Weight loss pills, exercise programs, controversy about body image, popular food trends, and a bombardment of Facebook posts: the list supporting the notion that something about our diets is f***ed goes on and on. New documentary, FED UP, aims to not only educate you on what’s causing the issue at hand, but also hopes to end it altogether.
Produced by Katie Couric and Laurie David (Oscar-winning producer of An Inconvenient Truth) and directed by Stephanie Soechtig, the film is taking things a bit further than others of its kind. Instead of simply being told the effects that certain foods have on your body, you are also being informed of the who, what, where, when, and why of it all. Perhaps what’s best, though, is that once you have finished watching you’re not left on your own to figure out just what you should do with the information. The accompanying website to the documentary offers numerous tools and resources to help you with everything from how to detox to how to thoroughly enjoy your new lifestyle.
FED UP is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, and for download.
