Wild Turkey keeps to their traditions when it comes to making their Bourbon, but not when it came to modernizing their visitor center. Dubbed as the “Cathedral of Bourbon,” the new visitor center caught the eye of the design and architecture world, receiving the 2015 American Institute for Architecture Honor Award. Moreover, the visitor center designed by Kentucky-based DeLeon and Primmer Architecture Workshop, earned the 2014 Kentucky AIA Honor Award, the 2014 Hospitality Design Award from Hospitality Design magazine, and the 2014 American Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum. The building was selected to represent the “best in American architecture” by Architect Magazine.
Known as the spiritual home of the distillery, which has stood on Wild Turkey Hill for over 100 years, the Visitor Center is the ultimate place for Bourbon and Wild Turkey fans around the world. The distillery is expecting 20 percent more guests in 2015 from the previous year.
Guests will be able to sip Bourbon during portfolio tastings in the Angel’s Share room seven days a week while learning about the history of one of the oldest distillery operations in Kentucky. Exclusive keepsakes will be found in the Visitor Center at the gift shop including recent limited edition products. On occasion, you might even find their Master Distiller, Jimmy Russell, around to sign the bottle of whiskey you picked out.
