From July 15 through July 18, 2016, visitors of Four Seasons Resort Nevis and Nevisian locals will have the opportunity to take part in the annual turtle release ceremonies and watch as these beloved sea creatures make their way back to the Caribbean Sea. This year marks the 10th annual Sea Turtle Weekend, a partnership between Four Seasons Resort Nevis and the Sea Turtle Conservancy. Through this longstanding partnership they educate and create awareness about the protection of sea turtles.
I’m happy to share that I will be flying in for this very special event and will be covering it on my Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat (Add me: JoesDaily), – so make sure you’re following those accounts.
What to Expect at ‘Sea Turtle Weekend’
You mean besides the beautiful Caribbean weather and sandy beaches? You can expect to see three species of sea turtles that nest on the shores of Nevis: the Leatherback, the Hawksbill, and the Green turtle. These beautiful sea creatures journey hundred of miles each nesting season to return to the place they were hatched. What I’m most excited to experience, besides the beautiful Four Seasons Resort, is the turtles laying the next generation of sea turtles under the moonlight.
As mentioned before, ‘Sea Turtle Weekend’ was created to educate visitors and locals about sea turtle conservation. For example: did you know that only one in 1,000 to 10,000 baby sea turtles survive to adulthood? This fact alone provides evidence why this program is so important for these majestic animals’ protection.
I’m looking forward to sharing with my readers my experience at ‘Sea Turtle Weekend’ and Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Stay tuned!
