NESCAFÉ, an instant coffee brand name derived from combining “Nestlé and “café,” was first introduced on April 1, 1938. Much later, in 2003 to be exact, Nestlé reintroduced the instant coffee brand in the US and Canada as NESCAFÉ Taster’s Choice, which can be found in both glass and plastic packaging throughout North American supermarkets.
Since my trip to Colombia with NESCAFÉ Taster’s Choice, I’ve been eager to share what I learned about the brand. Find a few fast facts below:
1. 6 Blends, and On the Go
NESCAFÉ Taster’s Choice is available in 7oz jars in three flavors: House Blend, Decaf House Blend and French Roast. Taster’s Choice single serve packets are available in multiple sizes (5/6 ct or 16/18ct) in six flavors – House Blend, Decaf House Blend, French Roast, 100% Colombian, Hazelnut and Vanilla.
2. Flash Frozen
Each freshly brewed batch of NESCAFÉ Taster’s Choice is flash frozen to lock in freshness and optimal coffee taste. Taster’s Choice flash freezes their coffee instead of heating it because too much heat takes away from the flavor.
3. Bean Monitoring
NESCAFÉ’s master coffee crafters roast each bean to a precise color, then carefully monitor the brewing temperature to bring you the best flavor.
4. How NESCAFÉ Started
Nestlé began developing an instant coffee brand in 1930 with the help of the Brazilian government to help preserve the massive surplus of the annual Brazilian coffee harvest.
5. The NESCAFÉ Plan
Through this global initiative, The NESCAFÉ Plan has committed to the future of coffee by providing their farmers with education in sustainable farming practices, continuous training on new techniques to wield the best crops, and the distribution of coffee plantlets.
