One of the hardest things about being a lifestyle and travel blogger is not having a consistent schedule. I can’t even remember the last time one week was similar to another. This week I could be headed to the Caribbean to review a cruise ship, while the next, I’m headed off to Idaho for winter activities. I never really know what’s in store. That being said, I’m not saying these things to make you feel bad for me. There are many who would drop everything in their life right now to have the travel adventures I’m afforded. And for that, I don’t take my career for granted. A question that seems to always come up about my busy life is how I find balance through the chaos. There are countless tips and tricks I‘ve learned over the years, however, I wanted to touch on a few key points that really stand out. Keep reading to see how I balance my busy life while on the go in partnership with California Almonds.
Feeding my body what it deserves
Nobody likes me when I’m hangry, which is why I always have a snack on-hand. 9 times out of 10, you will find a handful of almonds on my desk or in my backpack. Almonds are the perfect mid-morning (or mid-afternoon) snack. They’re portable, healthy, convenient, and best of all, provide me with the sustained energy my body needs. This is especially true on those long travel days when I don’t know when my next meal will be.
Making sure your body is fueled is one of the key points to having a healthy, balanced lifestyle. If you’re hungry all the time, then chances are your brain won’t function properly. The opposite is true as well if you feel too full.
Creating consistency in a chaotic life
I’ve always found what helps me fight chaos is when I’m able to develop my own consistency through daily routines. For example, making sure that I spend a minimum of 2 hours a day working on Joe’s Daily. No matter where I am in the world, I make sure this gets done. The benefit here is the feeling of accomplishment. When my world is unpredictable, taking some control back through consistency I created really helps.
Almonds also play a major role in my consistency plan. Having a nutritious snack with me all the time allows my brain to be at ease, because there’s nothing worse than having the distraction of hunger to get in the way of productivity. Even further, airports don’t exactly provide the healthiest meal options. I recommend packing a small carry case with you that can hold a handful of almonds. Whether you’re running to catch a flight or stepping away from your desk for a moment, having this handy pack with you will save you in those desperate times of hunger.
I may not be able to control 100% how my week looks, but I at least can take back control through the consistency I’m able to create.
Petition for an almond emoji
Can you believe that there’s a taco and burrito emoji, but no almond emoji? Isn’t that weird? I think it’s time for this to change. Join me in signing the petition here to help get the Almond Emoji made!
