Maison Telmont, the Champagne house known for blending tradition with environmental innovation, has joined forces with French eyewear artisan Shelter Manufacture to launch a unique and limited-edition pair of sunglasses. Crafted from upcycled by-products of Telmont’s 2024 grape harvest, these sunglasses are more than just a statement accessory—they’re a symbol of circular design and French craftsmanship.
Innovation Through Sustainability
The collaboration brings together two brands committed to sustainable luxury. Shelter, renowned for its use of natural materials like wood and its artisanal craftsmanship, has developed a new frame material that incorporates 8% grape marc—a by-product from Telmont’s Champagne production. This biosourced acetate material is plastic-free and represents a remarkable feat of eco-conscious design.
Each of the 400 limited-edition sunglasses is crafted in France and features subtle irregularities due to the natural materials, making every pair one-of-a-kind. They’re equipped with grey-blue lenses and come housed in lightweight, sustainable cases made from 100% recycled plastic waste fibers.
A Touch of Terroir
What sets these sunglasses apart is not just their look but their story. A special marking inside the temple of each frame draws inspiration from Telmont’s iconic Champagne labels, detailing the frame’s composition and origin. “Each pair will carry within it a part of our terroir,” said Justin Meade, Executive Director of Telmont.
Benoit de la Thébeaudière, Managing Director of Shelter, adds, “This creation illustrates how we leverage passion and innovation to reinvent eyewear, using organic materials and embracing a more sustainable approach… An approach we are proud to share with Telmont!”
Where to Find Them
This unique eyewear collaboration will be available starting July 2025 via the Telmont UK e-shop and through select retailers: Petite Optique in New York, Eyewear Mobius in Tokyo, and Eyestyle Studio in Rossendale, UK. The sunglasses will retail for €300.
