McDonald’s just turned an internet joke into a real Valentine’s Day moment. The brand is giving away McNugget Caviar Kits, pairing its classic Chicken McNuggets with actual premium caviar. It is absurd in the best way and very on brand for where food culture is right now.

Each kit includes a one-ounce tin of Baerii Sturgeon caviar from Paramount Caviar, a mother-of-pearl spoon, crème fraîche, and a $25 McDonald’s Arch Card to buy the nuggets themselves. The kits are completely free but extremely limited.

This idea did not come out of nowhere. The internet has been flirting with the nuggets and caviar combo for a while, helped along by viral moments and high-low food trends popping up at places like the US Open. McDonald’s simply leaned into it and did what it does best: made the meme official.

The flavor pairing actually makes sense. Salty, crispy nuggets meet rich, briny caviar, playing into that contrast people love. More importantly, it creates buzz without feeling try-hard. This is not McDonald’s pretending to be luxury. It is McDonald’s having fun with culture.
