The United States of America is one of the biggest countries in the world, when it comes to sheer landmass. On top of that, it also spans a continent, meaning there are a lot of places to visit, and a lot of incredible sites to see. For tourists who want to explore the outdoors, for those who want to marvel at man-made creations, and for anyone interest in the in-between, the USA has some incredible tourist spots. But, what are the most impressive ones? That is what we are here to find out.
Las Vegas
The gambling industry is growing at an unprecedented rate. Because of the success of online casinos, many have come to the conclusion that betting and wagering are a recent phenomenon. Some of the beste online casinos have greatly contributed to the growing trust for the iGaming sector. But, gambling is a far older hobby than we can imagine. Las Vegas stands as proof of that.
Founded in the early 20th century, Sin City, as it came to be known, began with a simple dream; a city dedicated to pleasure. Casinos, hotels, burlesque, magic shows, and so much more became heavily associated with Vegas, and to this day you can see many of the most popular performances of all time in the city. To say nothing of the grandiose, glamorous casinos that pepper the streets.
Every year, Sin City attracts over 40 million visitors, all of whom are eager to check out the Mafia Museum, throw some dice at the top gambling halls, or catch one of the most expensive, complex, and extravagant burlesque shows in world history. But, what about the folks who prefer natural beauty, over man-made glamour?
The Grand Canyon
One of America’s most prominent and famous national parks, The Grand Canyon is exactly what you’d expect; a steep-sized canyon, stretching for miles near the Colorado River in Arizona. The desert environment, while unbearably hot at times, is what makes the Canyon such a sight to see. The reddish hue of the earth has made this marvel of nature one of the most beautiful sites in the USA.
Observation decks are strewn across the park, allowing visitors to marvel at the majesty of the canyon. But, it doesn’t end there. For the more adventurous tourists, the national park offers hiking tours throughout various approved trails, giving them the opportunity to witness first-hand the flora and fauna of America’s most popular natural site.
Along these trails, hikers might run into the 18 different species of rodents that have made the canyon their home. If they get really lucky, they will also spot the adventurous mountain goats, who are constantly seen running across the canyon’s walls, and are often caught in bizarre situations, leaving the tourists wondering how they got there.
Mount Rushmore
For those who would like to witness the marvels of nature, coupled with the abilities of humanity, there is no better tourist spot in the USA than Mount Rushmore. Located in Keystone, South Dakota, Rushmore is a famous mountain, and home to the “Mount Rushmore National Memorial.” Much like the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore is home to an incredibly diverse range of animals and plants.
Most exciting are the bald eagles, which have become a symbol of the United States. Indeed, many of the country’s government agencies have incorporated the proud bird in their iconography. Visitors might also witness raccoons, porcupines, skunks, and an assortment of birds, making Mount Rushmore a wonderful place for bird-watching enthusiasts.
But, of course, the flora and fauna is not why most people visit Rushmore. They are there to see the incredible achievement of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial; a work of art carved directly into the mountain itself. The memorial shows the faces of four of America’s most important and most beloved presidents. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt watch over the forested area, and attract millions of fans from all over the world.
Disney World
The release of the original Snow White animated film changed kid’s entertainment, and cinema in general. More to the point, it made Walt Disney a household name. With his newfound fame, Disney went on to revolutionize animation, as well as theme-park-based entertainment. After buying acres, upon acres of unusable, swampland, Disney unveiled his new idea to the world.
Disney World was an instant success. From the joyous wonders of the Magic Kingdom, to the educational, yet eminently fun experience of EPCOT, Disney World has it all. Of course, the theme parks success has led to a brand of Disney-themed entertainment centers, which have come to be known as Disneyland. However, Disney World remains the first, and in most people’s eyes, the best.
You may, or may not, be shocked to learn that Disney World attracts over 50 million people every year. That is more than the combined efforts of Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Mount Rushmore. The amount doesn’t even account for the Disney Cruise and the offshoot Disney Land parks. Parents bring their children, romantic partners visit in hopes of proposing, and visitors from all over the world come just to experience the magic that helped build one of the biggest entertainment empires.
Broadway
We would be remiss if we did not bring up New York. Possibly the most famous American city, New York is a mix of cultures and people that stands as a microcosm of the greater American experience. In the city, you will find museums, cultural sites, art galleries, and restaurants from all over the world. However, no institution in the Big Apple can compare to Broadway.
The street stands as a monument to musical theater. Broadway is the origin of many of the most famous musicals today. Any great theater actor knows that, if they made it to Broadway, then they’ve made it as an actor. In the past two years, the theater saw 12.3 million visitors, annually. With the growing interest in musicals, that number may go up in the future.
Broadway’s proximity to Times Square is certainly a contributing factor to the success of the numerous theaters that have sprouted in the avenue. As many fans will tell you, nothing beats catching an excellent play, and then discussing one’s thoughts on it, while strolling down the busy street.
