The American Express Centurion Card, often known as the “Black Card,” has become a prestige symbol due to its exclusivity. American Express is now collaborating with two artists to create a new take on the classic card.
Rem Koolhaas x Centurion Art Card
The Rem Koolhaas x Centurion Art Card incorporates designs from his unfinished Boompjes project, which intended to rebuild a war-torn area of Rotterdam where his OMA business was formed.
“This was a groundbreaking project for myself and for OMA, and it was exciting to dive back into it and capture its dynamics in the new design for the Centurion Card.”
– Rem Koolhaas
Kehinde Wiley x Centurion Art Card
The lush foliage from his picture Princess Victoir of Saxe-Coburg Gotha is repurposed on the Kehinde Wiley x Centurion Art Card. Though both cards are cool, I would definitely choose the Kehinde Wiley over the Rem Koolhaas.
“An important part of my work is the decorative, organic background of the person being portrayed. The design on the Centurion Card stems from my interest in botanical elements and is a reference to my signature style.”
– Kehinde Wiley
