Desiring to increase the potential of its beautiful Panigale, Ducati presented a “R” version. Electronically, the 1199 receives new mappings and a re-calibrated ride-by-wire.
Engine-wise, the connecting rods are made of titanium, the crankshaft is lighter and the rockers received a specific treatment (DLC). The red zone has been extended by 500 RPM, the twin “Superquadro” now reached 12,000 RPM.
The “R” exhaust was entrusted to a Termignoni full line with ECU programming specific to the track. We also note the arrival of Marchesini lighter rims, a new windscreen, as well as new carbon features designed to reduce weight. Thus equipped, we could believe that the Panigale R is lighter and more powerful than others. This is not the case! The bike weighs 165 kg (363 lb.), 1 kg (2.2 lb.) more than what is advertised for the Panigale S and remains at 195 BHP.
The price will be $29,995 and should be available in February.
