GMC recently announced the latest addition to its impressive lineup: the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X and the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition. This announcement underscores GMC’s dedication to creating premium off-road trucks capable of balancing remarkable off-road performance, silky smooth on-road handling, and the capacity to tow significant loads.
The Rise of GMC’s AT4X Trim
The AT4X trim has been introduced across the entire GMC truck lineup, offering customers an array of premium choices when it comes to multi-purpose capabilities. Duncan Aldred, the global vice president of Buick-GMC, expressed his enthusiasm for the newest addition, noting that the all-new Sierra HD AT4X takes the AT4X trim to the extreme. This new offering pushes the boundaries of luxury and off-road capability, enabling customers to conquer nearly any terrain in comfort, all while towing everything from recreational toys to campers.
Sierra HD AT4X: Mastering Off-Roading with GMC
The new Sierra HD AT4X is built on the foundation of the revamped 2024 Sierra HD, which features fresh design updates, new premium interiors, and a tech-focused layout. Among the highlights of the Sierra HD AT4X are a max trailering capacity of 18,500 pounds, a factory-installed 1.5-inch suspension lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and 35-inch Goodyear Territory tires. Additional features include a unique Obsidian Rush interior, massaging front seats wrapped in full-grain leather, and an all-new Off-Road Mode, which adjusts vehicle calibrations for optimal off-road performance.
The Extreme AEV Edition
The AT4X AEV Edition, developed in collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), adds robust stamped steel bumpers, integrated recovery points, and front winch capability. Its heavy-duty steel skid plates protect vital components like the steering gear and transfer case, adding an extra layer of confidence for the driver when navigating rough terrain. With unique 18-inch Salta wheels and special exterior badging and interior cues, the AEV Edition embodies GMC’s commitment to detail and performance.
Turbocharged and Tech-Ready
The 2024 Sierra HD AT4X is available with a turbocharged 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine, delivering 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque, alongside a standard 6.6L gas engine. Both engines are paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, designed to optimize power, torque, and efficiency.
This truck not only boasts power but also incorporates the most trailering assistance technologies in its class, such as the available ProGrade Trailering System. With up to 14 available camera views, this system offers innovative tools to streamline the hitching and towing process, enhancing safety and boosting driver confidence.
First-Class Interior Luxury and Comfort
The first-ever Sierra HD AT4X doesn’t compromise on luxury. The exclusive Obsidian Rush interior features power massaging front seats, full-grain leather-wrapped seats, and authentic Vanta Ash wood décor. The AEV Edition also includes the AEV logo on the front-seat head restraints and AEV-branded floor liners.
At the heart of the cabin is a 13.4-inch-diagonal infotainment touchscreen, flanked by a 12.3-inch-diagonal driver information center and a 15-inch-diagonal head-up display, all of which contribute to a highly personalized and intuitive engagement.
