Mercedes-Benz recently invited me to New York City to attend the US Open finals, and take a closer look at the all-new 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S and Mercedes-Maybach S600. The closer look included a test drive that took us out of the city and into the country side.

Our trip began at Mercedes’ Manhattan showroom where Mercedes-AMG product manager, Branden Cote, gave us a private walk-around of the 2016 AMG GT S. You can watch him talk about the car’s mean details in a video shot and edited by my friends at Ballerstatus.com.

The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S has “breathtaking performance, scene-stealing looks, and a growl that intimidates the road itself.” I had to capture that quote from the Mercedes website because I don’t think I could have said it better myself.

AMG engineers in Affalterbach placed an AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission into this mean looking super car. The engine delivers 0-to-60 in just 3.7 seconds thanks to its low bodyweight and powerful engine. You can immediately feel its dynamic performance as soon as you get behind the wheel.

Continuing Mercedes “aviation design” theme, the GT S interior features a wing-like dashboard, four central spotlight-style vents and a powerful looking center console. Everything you see inside is made using the finest materials and highest quality craftsmanship you would expect from an AMG vehicle.
