Lucid just gave us the clearest look yet at the car meant to make it a volume automaker. It comes in the final seconds of a brand film. The 94-second ‘Shaping How Movement Feels’ is mostly sunrises and road trips. Then it closes on a red SUV at dusk: LUCID spelled out in red light across the tailgate, and a sculpted LED headlight with vertical segments. Lucid never names the car, but the rear matches the Cosmos design it registered in Europe in May. The Cosmos is the midsize SUV unveiled in March, the first on Lucid’s new 800-volt platform.
I have not driven one because nobody has. Production was due late 2026, but in August Lucid pushed it to the second half of 2027. On paper it is a serious alternative for Model Y shoppers. Lucid claims about 300 miles of range from a 69 kWh pack at up to 4.5 miles per kWh. If it lands under $50,000 as promised, about half the Gravity’s price, the wait until the second half of 2027 is the only thing in the way.
