The BMW iX Flow E-Ink Can Change Its Exterior Color in Seconds

It was only a matter of time before we saw technology so advanced you could change the color of your car with a click of a button. The BMW iX Flow E-Ink is giving me major Fifth Element vibes with their latest announcement. You know the scene, where Zorg’s receptionist is changing the color of her nails by simply putting them in a device. It’s sort-of like that.

Though the colors are limited to white or black and the gray shades in-between, the BMW iX Flow E-Ink technology is still really cool. The exterior of the vehicle uses the same tech you find in paper-thin eReaders, using millions of tiny human hair-sized microcapsules that change according to an electromagnetic field.
