When the first Toyota Prius came on the scene it jumpstarted the hybrid category, and now the all-new fourth-generation Prius is looking to do the same. This week, Toyota set their launch event for the 2016 Prius in Las Vegas, where it was at the helm of a music, food, and special effects extravaganza. Over 350 social influencers, journalists, and Toyota guests showed up to see this very special unveiling.
Consumers looking for a hybrid vehicle demand excellence, and the resume to prove it. The 2016 Prius features a smaller, lighter hybrid system components, an internal combustion engine, and higher-density in the batteries. On the new Prius’ core models you’re looking at a ten percent improvement in EPA estimated MPG, and an Eco model to be released at a later date with even greater improvements
“Prius set the global benchmark for hybrids, but now is breaking its own boundaries with more engaging style and fun-to-drive dynamics,” said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division. “What was once a rational purchase that for many customers focused on fuel economy, is now so much more. This Prius will invite new drivers into the category by delivering an impressive look and feel, built on the foundation of safety and eco-consciousness that define the vehicle’s heritage.”
With the new 2016 Prius, Toyota focused on more than just improving the MPG. They knew that customers wanted the benefits of a hybrid without sacrificing the looks of their vehicle. This is why they redesigned the Prius inside and out with new styling, smarter technology and of course, industry leading MPG.
