Back in 1992, Candyman frightened moviegoers when they were introduced to a murderous soul that wielded a hook for a hand. To this day, saying Candyman five times in front of a mirror is something only the strongminded will attempt. It’s not something I dare to try, even if it is just from a movie.
Jordan Peele’s reimagining of the horror classic is coming out this year and it looks scarier than ever. Candyman was written by Peele, and directed by up-and-coming director Nia DaCosta. It’s said that this film is a “spiritual sequel” to the original, which takes place in a now gentrified Chicago neighborhood.
