I’ve been a huge fan of Kevin Smith for a long time now, and I’m not talking about his films. Though Tusk, Mall Rats and Clerks were awesome, I’m more of a fan of his attitude and professionalism towards critics. Take this Q&A screening of one of his new films of 2016, Yoga Hosers, starring his daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Johnny Depp.
After the film was shown, Smith answered questions from the audience when a disspointed guest expressed his opinion on the film. Most directors would lash out and attempt to belittle the critic, but not Smith. Here are a few gems he threw out to the critic and the crowd:
“I make the movie that I want to see; sometimes you want to see it too, and then sometimes you don’t want to see it… that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t make it.”
“OMG, two girls standing next to each other without fighting for a fucking guy.”
After you watch his 5-minute response above, take a look at the Yoga Hosers zany trailer below. I have to admit that it is a bit off the wall, but if you have seen any of Smith’s films like Tusk, then it shouldn’t be much of a surprise. It really is nice to see two girls standing next to each other and not fighting over a guy, for once.
