To promote their recent integration with Netflix, Australian broadband network Optus tapped funny man and super-producer, Ricky Gervais. The entire ad is less than one minute long, and features Gervais talking about Optus approaching him to do the ad which took a, and I quote, “shed load of cash, like seriously, mental money.” Of course the entire advert was made in fun, letting Gervais do what he does best — be Ricky Gervais.
And I couldn’t think of a better person for the job. Netflix has been very kind to Gervais and his many projects. For one, The Office — a show that started in the UK where Michael Scott, as we know him in the US version of the show, was actually David Brent, played by Ricky Gervais. Not to mention his Netflix Original Series Derek. Or perhaps An Idiot Aboard. Both are shows you should binge watch Immediately.
