Chocolate-covered pretzels just became a beer, and it is exactly the kind of seasonal collab worth chasing down. Cape May Brewing Co. teamed up with Asher’s Chocolate Co., the Pennsylvania chocolatier handcrafting confections since 1892. The beer is Dipped & Twisted, a Chocolate-Covered Pretzel Imperial Brown Ale. It is brewed with Asher’s cocoa nibs, sea salt and caramel over a blend of caramel, crystal and roasted malts. It is 8% ABV, and Cape May calls the profile sweet, toasty and a little salty.
I have not cracked one open yet, so no tasting notes from me. But the idea of a brown ale built around a chocolate-covered pretzel is an easy sell. Anyone who likes their beer on the dessert side of the spectrum will get it. It lands Friday, November 6, on draft and in six-packs at the Cape May tasting room. It will also be at select spots in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. It is a limited release, so it will be gone when it is gone.
