Especially these days, it’s always nice to find a company that not only provides a great product, but makes inspiring social commitments as well. And when said company’s product happens to be something as amazing as coffee, it’s pretty safe to say I’m all in. So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to Fire Department Coffee, my most recent amazing and inspiring find.

Fire Department Coffee is (you guessed it) a company established by firefighters, creating coffee for firefighters, and helping firefighters in need. Okay, the product/help is for military and first responders too, but you get what we’re doing here.

In the words of one of the founders, Mark Williams, “Fire Dept. Coffee believes in the bonds created between people when sharing the mutual responsibility of selfless service to Nation and Community. The bonds created by service members and firefighters are unique, strong and loyal. Our brand looks to foster similar relationships with customers, business partners and employees. FDC will always put our team before lesser objectives like profits and numbers.”

And so far, it seems like that’s exactly what they’re doing.

  • The coffee is sourced from sociably and environmentally friendly farms.
  • Each bag is roasted to order, so they can have a personal relationship with their customers.
  • A portion of every sale is donated to military and fire service charities.
  • And military and first responders receive 15% off of every order.

I’m also really into their packaging, but that’s beside the point.

Fire Dept. Coffee

So, as you can see, they’re definitely a company that you’d feel good about patronizing. As for the coffee itself, it’s made to be strong enough to keep even a first responder alert through the night, and still be “easy drinking”. If you visit their site, you can find quite a few testimonials singing its praises.

Fire Department Coffee is available in three different roasts: Original, Dark Roast, and Bourbon Infused (aka, the one I’m most looking forward to trying). They offer 10% off to subscribers, and free shipping on orders over $50.
