Glenfiddich will mix its rare whisky with NFT artwork for its upcoming limited release in collaboration with BlockBar, an NFT marketplace for premium wine and spirits.
On BlockBar’s new platform, the brand will debut 15 bottles of a rare single malt Scotch whisky from 1973. The 46-year-old whiskey has rich, fruity tones and was aged in an Armagnac barrel for more than two decades to acquire its distinctive taste.
“This is an exceptionally rare example of 1973 Glenfiddich, a 46 year old whisky which has spent more than two decades in an Armagnac cask and is a fitting spirit for the launch of Glenfiddich’s first and exclusive NFT release on BlockBar.”
– Brian Kinsman, Malt Master
Each bottle will sell for $18,000, and the entire collection is likely to sell out almost instantly. Successful purchasers will get an NFT, which is an artistic rendition of the whiskey bottle and acts as their certificate of ownership. The buyer will then be able to resell or transfer the NFT on the BlockBar platform at any time, or redeem it for the physical version of the whiskey.
Glenfiddich is the first premium drinks brand to be sold on BlockBar, which launched on October 13. You can learn more about Glenfiddich NFTs by visiting BlockBar online.
