High West‘s The Prisoner’s Share is back for 2026, and the premise is still the draw: straight bourbon and rye finished in red wine barrels from The Prisoner, the cult Napa blend known for being big and dark. The whiskey itself is a patchwork, with bourbon and rye sourced from MGP and Barton alongside High West’s own distillate, then handed over to those wine barrels to pick up color and depth. It runs 101 proof at 51% ABV, no chill filtration, aged anywhere from 4 to 12 years. High West pegs the profile at Medjool dates, smoked apples with vanilla custard, cappuccino, clove, and a finish of boysenberry preserves and star anise, and recommends drinking it neat with a splash of water. First released in 2022, it’s become one of the distillery’s most-chased limited drops. The 2026 edition hits nationwide in limited quantities on May 30, with an SRP of $174.99.
