Gordon & MacPhail has recently unveiled the Mortlach 75 Years Old at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. It is believed to be the world’s most exclusive single malt Scotch whisky. So naturally, I must have some.
To understand this fine whisky you have to go back in Gordon & MacPhail history. On November 17th, 1939, John Urquhart, the first generation of the family to be involved with Gordon & MacPhail, requested the first-fill Sherry cask to be filled with new-make spirit from the Speyside’s Mortlach Distillery. Fast-forward to the present, seventy-five years later, the cask was emptied and this unique, precious amber liquid was transferred into the beautiful teardrop crystal decanters you see above.
Mortlach 75 Years Old Whisky features notes of dried apricots and pomegranate, followed by hints of creamy vanilla and spice, and a smooth, yet smoky finish that lingers long after your last taste.
