One of the many pleasant things I witnessed while touring Wendy’s HQ in Dublin, OH was their high quality standards for lettuce. You might assume a “fast food” restaurant would only use bagged lettuce, but you would be wrong. From start to finish, Wendy’s hand cuts their lettuce fresh each day, unlike those other guys.
For over the past four decades, Wendy’s has served farm fresh ingredients by partnering with suppliers that believe in the same commitment to quality as Dave Thomas has since the beginning. These strong partnerships have given Wendy’s the capabilities to serve their customers fresh produce that gets delivered multiple times a week.
To dive a little deeper into the quality of their produce, Wendy’s just released a new video: Wendy’s Profiles in Quality: Lettuce… From Start to Fresh. Watch it below:
This video comes at the perfect time, as Wendy’s just announced their new limited-time Summer Berry Chicken Salad.
“At Wendy’s, fresh is not just a word but a personal challenge to which we are dedicated,” said
Carl Loredo, VP of Wendy’s brand marketing. “After years of planning and hard work, we are
proud to serve fresh blackberries at the peak of their season—something no other national QSR is able to deliver—and continue to pioneer for quality and freshness in the food industry. Our new Summer Berry Chicken Salad is an incredible example of how Wendy’s allows customers to enjoy ingredients fresh from the farm, literally.”
The new Summer Berry Chicken Salad is a testament to Dave Thomas’ promise that “Quality is Our Recipe“. Wendy’s is the first national QSR to bring fresh blackberries to their customers, and it wasn’t easy. They had to go through multiple blackberry growers until they found the right ones, a planning process that was two years in the making.
What’s in the Summer Berry Chicken Salad?
For a fully dressed, full-sized entree, the Summer Berry Chicken Salad is just 390 calories. It comes topped with freshly grilled chicken breast, fresh strawberries and blackberries, on a bed of fresh-cut lettuce with feta cheese, crunchy red apple chips and light blackberry vinaigrette.
Disclosure: Wendy’s paid for me to visit their HQ in Dublin, OH. All opinions are my own.
