DMOS rebuilt its ultralight adventure shovel around one weak point: the joint. The Nomad Pro integrates the aluminum shaft directly into the shovel head and increases the weld area by 60%, which DMOS says more than doubles the strength of the original Nomad without adding weight. The whole thing still weighs two pounds.

The specs read like a packing list win: an 8-gauge 6061 aluminum blade and shaft, stainless steel connector pins and spring, an improved blade angle for more comfortable digging, and a built-in bottle opener in the blade. It extends to 33 inches for real digging through soil, sand, and snow, then breaks down to 17.5 inches and stows in its sling bag for camping, overlanding, and beach days. It is $129 from DMOS.
