Ember’s third-generation smart mug fixes the two complaints that mattered most. You can now set the temperature right on the mug. Press the button on the bottom to cycle through five presets from 125 to 145 degrees. No phone required, though the app still syncs and offers presets like 136 degrees for black coffee. The stainless steel mug with a ceramic-coated interior is also the first Ember. It goes on the top rack of the dishwasher. The included sliding lid stretches battery life past three hours. That is more than double the 80 minutes you get without it. The charging coaster keeps it powered all day at your desk.
It is built for the desk, not the commute. It pairs with rather than replaces a travel bottle like the YETI Rambler I covered recently. One honest limit: it still is not microwave-safe. It comes in 10 and 14 ounces, the larger in eight colors. The 14-ounce is $149.95 and the 10-ounce is $129.95.
