Cadillac’s F1 Team Embroidered a Cowboy Shirt Onto Its Car for Austin

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team will run a one-off Texas-themed livery at the US Grand Prix in Austin, with embroidery motifs, 50 stars, and a lucky horseshoe.

Cadillac’s Formula 1 team is bringing western wear to Austin. For this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, the team will run a one-off Texas-themed livery inspired by Texas craftsmanship. The design makes the car look embroidered, with chain stitching and saddlery scrollwork worked into the paint.

It is the third special livery of Cadillac’s debut season. Miami drew on American symbols in May. Silverstone celebrated American color in July. Austin explores the character of the American West. GM design manager Vincent Traina, a Dallas native, led the project with the team’s UK designers.

The hidden details reward a close look. Fifty stars stand for the United States. Cactuses nod to Texas. An embroidered Austin skyline and a Circuit of The Americas map hide on the bodywork. A horseshoe sits with its heels up for luck. Bottas and Pérez will wear matching western-themed driver suits. After the team’s first on-track laps proved the car works, Austin is where it shows some personality.
