A day at the races is frequently enjoyed by many people as it can be a great social occasion. Some of the finest racecourses in the world are in the UK which allows them to attract the best horses and jockeys.

Here is a look at three racecourses you should look visit if you are looking for a trip to a major race meeting.

Ascot

When it comes to glitz and glamour, no racecourse in the world can rival Ascot. It is home to the royal meeting and it is easy to see why this venue is loved by so many racegoers.

Ascot offers both Flat and Jumps racing so there are fixtures all year round. As well as Royal Ascot, it hosts British Champions Day annually in October. This year it will feature the superstar racehorse Baaeed on what will be the final start of his career. The unbeaten colt is 1/3 in the horse racing odds for UK and Irish racing to prevail in the Champions Stakes.

Baaeed is set to be one of the leading horse racing betting tips for the meeting at Ascot as he is the highest-rated racehorse in the world. He will be joined by some of the other leading thoroughbreds in Europe at the championship meeting, which will feature a big crowd at the Berkshire venue.

As well as top-class racing, Ascot is also known for fashion and hospitality. It is advised to check out the dress code for the meeting and enclosure you are attending, all of which can be found on the racecourse’s website.

Cheltenham

Cheltenham is home to the biggest festival of the year in jumps racing. The Cheltenham Festival takes place across four days in March, and it is a week many look forward to above all else.

There are 28 races at the Cheltenham Festival and each of them has a great deal of importance to them, none less so than the Cheltenham Gold Cup, as it is known as the Blue Riband in the sport. It was won in 2022 by chaser A Plus Tard for female jockey Rachael Blackmore.

The Gloucestershire venue can house just over 70,000 racing fans on a race day, so there is a great atmosphere on the course. If you prefer quieter meetings, there are lots of other fixtures from October through to April in the National Hunt season.

Aintree

The world’s most famous steeplechase, the Grand National takes place at Aintree. This is a huge part of the sporting calendar in the UK, as the race attracts a lot of interest each year outside of the sport. Earlier this year, Noble Yeats won the 174th renewal of the race.

Every jockey and trainer dreams of winning the Grand National as it’s often the race that got them into the sport in the first place. Like the Cheltenham Festival, there is always a huge crowd for this meeting.

The racecourse in Liverpool is very welcoming and the facilities are some of the best in the UK. Those who visit always want to return, especially for the Grand National.

Have fun if you head to one of the above three racecourses soon. You are sure to have a great time.
