Clarks just handed three of its most recognizable shoes to the Italians who know mountains. Diemme, the Montebelluna bootmaker behind the Roccia Vet and Cornaro, rebuilt the Wallabee, the Desert Boot and the Desert Trek on its own lug sole, with hiking D-rings, rope laces and a crepe-textured rubber mudguard, while keeping each silhouette instantly recognizable. The Wallabee comes in Champagne suede from British tannery Charles F. Stead, the Desert Boot in Clarks’ signature Cola suede, and the Desert Trek goes furthest, reworked as a mid-cut boot in black full-grain leather with its center seam and Trek Man logo intact. All three are made in Italy at Diemme’s family factory in the Veneto. They are for the guy who wears Wallabees everywhere but wants a pair that can handle a muddy trailhead without looking like a hiking boot. The collection drops today, November 5, at $620 a pair through Diemme.
