Flint and Tinder keeps finding new ways to work waxed canvas, and its latest is a Western. The Quilted Waxed Western Jacket takes the classic Western silhouette and builds it from British Millerain Tekwax Evolution 6 cotton canvas, with a diamond-quilted pattern insulated with 40 grams of PrimaLoft Eco Black recycled fill.
That combination is the whole pitch: the weather resistance and patina of waxed canvas, with enough insulation to actually wear it through fall. It comes in three colors: Light Brown, Hunter Green, and Dark Navy.
Flint and Tinder has made a habit of this kind of thing. Its flannel-lined waxed trucker took off after showing up on HBO’s The Last of Us, and the brand has been spinning waxed variations of classic jackets ever since. The Western is the newest entry, and at $268 it lands right in the brand’s usual value territory.
