Timex keeps digging into the Pan Am archives, and this one might be the best of the bunch. The new Waterbury Automatic GMT is the first automatic in the collaboration, running Seiko’s NH34A GMT movement with an independently settable 24-hour hand.
The design nods hard to the watch that started it all. Rolex built the original GMT-Master at Pan Am’s request in the 1950s, issuing it to the airline’s pilots and crew, and Timex channels that history with a 41mm steel case, a two-tone 24-hour bezel, and a lollipop seconds hand, without tipping into homage-brand territory. The Pan Am globe gets pride of place on the exhibition caseback, and the printed logo takes over the 9 o’clock marker.
At $669 on a steel H-link bracelet with a butterfly clasp, it’s a lot of travel-watch romance for the money. Available now from Timex.
