Seiko pulled the 5 Sports line off the dive-watch template for this one. The Field Series arrives in two references, HDB008 in khaki green and HDB009 in brown, both built around a bidirectional compass bezel and a nylon strap with a leather lining. The green is the textbook field watch. The brown runs warmer and reads closer to a vintage military dial.
Inside is the 4R36 automatic with 41 hours of reserve, and it hacks and hand-winds, which Seiko’s older budget movements never did. The case measures 41mm across but just 48.5mm lug to lug, so it should sit flat on a smaller wrist. LumiBrite indices, curved Hardlex, a see-through mineral caseback, 330 feet of water resistance. Lug width is 20mm if you want off the nylon.
At $385 it sits above where Seiko 5 money usually lands. Available now through Uncrate Supply in both colorways.
