Apple Is Making Its Own Smart Home Gear Now: Meet Apple Home Collection

Apple Home Collection is Apple's first lineup of smart home accessories, designed with LG and Schneider Electric: cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, and thermostats, all managed in the Home app. Available in December.

Hot on the heels of this morning’s HomeView smart display, Apple just dropped the other shoe: Apple Home Collection, its first-ever lineup of smart home accessories, designed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. We are talking indoor and outdoor cameras, a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, thermostats, and temperature sensors, all arriving in December.

The pitch is pure Apple: one-tap setup with iPhone, everything managed in the Home app with no separate app or account, and end-to-end encryption that even Apple, LG, and Schneider cannot read. Every device supports Thread, and they update their own Wi-Fi credentials if you change your network, which eliminates one of the great smart home headaches.

The highlights: LG’s Video Doorbell ($249.95) has dual cameras for visitors and packages, the Floodlight Cam ($399.95) and Outdoor Cam ($299.95) bring low-light color night vision, and the Indoor Cam ($199.95) politely tilts down when someone comes home. The Smart Deadbolt Lock ($349.95) uses Ultra Wideband to unlock as you approach, and two Smart Thermostats ($199.95 each, one from LG and one from Schneider Electric) adjust automatically based on whether anyone is home. Apple Retail will even offer professional installation from ADT starting this fall.
