Fujifilm took its weirdest little camera and made it make sense. The Instax Pal 2 is the second go at the palm-sized digital shooter, and this time it actually looks like a camera: retro classic-camera body, a real optical viewfinder, and a shutter lever on top that flips between stills and modes.
The spec sheet is honest about what it is. Ten megapixels on a 1/3.06-inch sensor, 28mm f/2.2 lens, 41 grams. A 1-inch LCD on top for reviewing shots, Bluetooth 5.1 plus USB-C that moves a photo to your phone in under a second. Thirty effects across five filter themes, and a new Animation mode that stitches ten frames into a flipbook-style clip.
The catch hasn’t changed: despite the Instax name, it doesn’t print. Photos go to the Instax Pal app, and from there to a Link printer or a hybrid like the mini Evo if you want something physical. That’s a separate purchase, film included.
At $169.95 in black or white, it’s priced like a toy and built like a camera, which is exactly the lane. The anti-phone photography wave keeps growing, and this is the most fun $170 way to ride it that I’ve seen in a while.
