Pair of JBL L150 Classic floorstanding speakers with walnut veneer and black Quadrex grilles in a living room

JBL’s New L150 Classic Is a 15-Inch Flagship That Outguns Its 1979 Namesake

JBL's L150 Classic is the Classic Series' first floorstander: a 15-inch Pure Pulp woofer, walnut veneer, Quadrex grille, $9,999 a pair, arriving Q1 2027.

JBL just made the Classic Series grow up. The L150 Classic is the line’s first floorstander and its new flagship, reviving a badge last used in 1979-1981, and it outguns the original where it counts: the old L150 paired a 12-inch woofer with a 12-inch passive radiator, while the new one runs a true 15-inch Pure Pulp Differential Drive woofer with a cast frame. A 6.5-inch polymer-coated Pure Pulp midrange and a 28mm titanium dome tweeter with a waveguide and acoustic lens fill out the 3-way design, crossed over at 300 Hz and 1.8 kHz.

The cabinet is classic JBL: natural walnut veneer, a magnetic black Quadrex foam grille, a sloped baffle, front HF and LF attenuators, and dual gold binding posts for bi-wiring/bi-amping. It plays down to about 33 Hz, a different universe from a portable like the Marshall Emberton, handles up to 250 watts RMS, stands 36.8 inches tall, and weighs 129 pounds each, so plan the room around them. The pair runs $9,999, with production starting in December and availability in the first quarter of 2027.
