Polaroid’s new MOD instant camera hands exposure control back to the photographer. An on-camera dial sets exposure directly, with brightness adjustment, instead of leaving it to auto-exposure. The same dial switches between four creative modes: double exposure, split shot, motion freeze, and light painting. It takes i-Type and 600 film, charges over USB-C instead of disposable batteries, and ships with a split-shot filter and neck strap. A companion app, Scan & Share, pulls digital copies of the prints straight off the camera, though it works fully standalone without it. At $170, it lands a dollar above Fujifilm’s Instax Pal 2, aimed at the opposite instinct: the MOD is for people who want the dial, not the algorithm.
