Celestyal Cruises has announced significant changes to its 2024/2025 season, citing geopolitical concerns in the Red Sea region as the primary reason for the cancellation of two highly anticipated 14-night repositioning cruises. The affected sailings, “Ancient Athens to Dazzling Doha” and its return counterpart “Dazzling Doha to Ancient Athens,” were originally scheduled to depart on October 26, 2024, and March 8, 2025, respectively, onboard the Celestyal Journey.

Navigating Geopolitical Challenges

In response to escalating political unrest along the planned route, Celestyal has opted for a 34-night non-commercial repositioning cruise to and from Doha, Qatar, instead of the previously planned itineraries. This strategic decision underscores the company’s commitment to passenger safety and its ability to adapt in the face of unforeseen challenges.

To accommodate this extended repositioning period, the first three “Desert Days” itineraries, set to depart from Doha on November 9, 16, and 23, have been canceled. Additionally, the first three “Heavenly Adriatic” sailings, scheduled for March 22, 29, and April 5, 2025, will no longer take place.

Exciting Arabian Gulf Voyages with Grand Prix Highlights

Despite these changes, Celestyal has reinforced its commitment to its inaugural Arabian Gulf season. The revised schedule now includes nine seven-night “Desert Days” cruises, with embarkation options in Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.

One of the standout offerings is the newly introduced “Desert Days & Qatar Grand Prix” voyage, which will mark Celestyal Journey’s maiden Arabian Gulf voyage. Departing November 30, 2024, from Doha, this seven-night cruise offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the Qatar Grand Prix, with the ship staying in port for the first three days of the race. The itinerary also includes an overnight stay in Dubai Marina, along with visits to Khasab, Sir Bani Yas Island, and Abu Dhabi.

Following this, Celestyal will offer another thrilling Grand Prix-themed cruise, the “Desert Days & Abu Dhabi Grand Prix” voyage, departing December 2, 2024, from Dubai. This itinerary features a full-day and late-night stay in Abu Dhabi on December 8, ensuring guests can fully immerse themselves in the Grand Prix festivities.

Commitment to Guests and Trade Partners

Lee Haslett, Chief Commercial Officer at Celestyal, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing stability and security in its offerings. “In light of the current geopolitical climate…we have decided to operate longer non-commercial repositioning sailings to and from Qatar,” said Haslett. He assured that while a small number of itineraries have been canceled, all impacted guests have been offered alternative cruise options or reimbursement.

Haslett also reiterated Celestyal’s commitment to its year-round operations in the Greek islands, Mediterranean, and Arabian Gulf, expressing gratitude for the continued support from guests and travel partners.

Looking Ahead

Celestyal’s revised Arabian Gulf season, now spanning from November 2024 to March 2025, showcases the brand’s adaptability and commitment to delivering unique travel experiences. With the added excitement of the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix events, guests are promised an extraordinary cruising season, blending luxury travel with world-class sporting spectacles.

As Celestyal Journey prepares for its inaugural Arabian Gulf season, the company remains steadfast in its mission to provide unforgettable journeys while prioritizing the safety and satisfaction of its passengers.

For those impacted by the changes, Celestyal has ensured that alternative options and reimbursements are readily available, along with protected commissions for travel partners. The company’s swift and transparent communication reflects its dedication to maintaining trust and reliability in the ever-evolving landscape of global travel.
