If you’re wondering if single cruises are for you, then you have come to the right place.
Before diving right in, I want to nip in the bud that a “single cruise” doesn’t mean that you have to be single, per se. Some single cruises do put together “singles activities” that could be considered romantic, but most of the time they just want solo travelers to meet up and enjoy the cruise together. Take me, for example; I love to cruise solo and I’m happily married. Of course, my wife travels with me often, but there are some trips I take alone and I enjoy them equally, just in a different way than if I were with her (or a friend).
Cruising Solo
1. Dining at your own leisure
Chances are if you’re with someone on a trip, especially a cruise, you’re going to be dining at the same time. It would be a little bit odd if your friend or significant other you’re cruising with ate at different restaurants. Not to say it isn’t possible, but highly unlikely.
One bonus about cruising solo is being able to eat whenever you want and wherever you want. This isn’t to say dining with someone isn’t a great part of cruising, because let’s be honest, food plays a major role when cruising. Just take a look at my 5 favorite dining experiences on Wonder of the Seas. But being able to eat whenever you want allows you to enjoy other activities at your leisure. Sometimes showtimes, like comedians and musical acts will be starting while you’re at dinner. Nothing worse than feeling like you have to rush a meal because you want to catch the full show.
2. More time to do things
When you’re waiting around for another person, you’re essentially on their time. I’m one of those travelers that will have major FOMO if I don’t get to do everything I want to do. Maybe it’s because I’m a content creator, but being able to experience as much as possible is vital to me doing my job.
Even though it is my job to craft content for a living, I still think there are many who can relate to wanting to experience as much as possible on a cruise. Traveling solo allows you to do just that.
