Holland America is building four new pickleball courts on Half Moon Cay to host what it calls the first professional pickleball invitational on a private island. The Private Island Invitational, staged with the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball, takes place March 13, 2027, during the island call on Nieuw Statendam’s seven-day Eastern Caribbean sailing from San Juan, which leaves March 7. It’s one day of pro play on a seven-day cruise, so this is a trip for people who like the sport as much as the beach. Four Countdown Cruises starting November 20 (Nieuw Amsterdam, Zuiderdam, and two on Eurodam) add up to 30 cruise days of PPA appearances, including onboard lessons, pro coffee chats, and a clinic on the island. The players haven’t been named yet. Every ship in the 11-vessel fleet already has a court, so the sport isn’t new to the line.
