When it comes to cruising, not every traveler needs a balcony or suite. For my recent sailing aboard Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam, I stayed in an inside cabin—Cabin 7030—and was pleasantly surprised by how functional and comfortable the space was.

This post gives you a quick look inside the room, but if you’d rather watch the full walkthrough, I’ve included my YouTube video tour below.

Smart Design in a Compact Space

Cabin 7030 sits on Deck 7 (Navigation Deck), tucked away in a quiet corridor near the midship elevators. The room makes efficient use of its layout with generous storage, soft lighting, and bedding that meets Holland America’s usual high standards.

The bathroom, while small, feels thoughtfully designed with good lighting and usable counter space. Even without a window, the warm lighting makes it feel cozy rather than confined.

Ideal for Travelers Who Value Experience Over Extras

If you’re the type who spends most of the day exploring the ship, attending enrichment activities, or venturing ashore, an inside stateroom like this makes sense. You still get the same dining, entertainment, and service—without the higher price tag.

For travelers who prefer to spend their budget on experiences instead of square footage, the Inside Cabin 7030 on Zuiderdam offers comfort, quiet, and smart use of space.

It’s proof that you don’t need an ocean view to have a great cruise.
