Transfer between cruise ships during a back-to-back sailing at PortMiami—the “Cruise Capital of the World“—can be a surprisingly seamless experience. On a recent journey, I disembarked from MSC Seascape and embarked on Norwegian Escape, all within the same port.

PortMiami’s Layout

PortMiami, officially known as the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami, is situated on Dodge Island in Biscayne Bay, adjacent to downtown Miami. The port encompasses multiple terminals, each designated for specific cruise lines. For instance, Norwegian Cruise Line operates from Terminal B, known as the “Pearl of Miami.”

Navigating Between Terminals

The proximity of the terminals makes transferring ships straightforward. While options like taxis or ride-sharing services are available, I found walking to be the most convenient choice. With just a carry-on bag in tow, the short stroll between terminals was manageable and pleasant.

Tips for a Smooth Transition:

  • Luggage: Travel light to make the walk between terminals easier.
  • Timing: Allocate sufficient time between disembarkation and embarkation to account for any unforeseen delays.
  • Documentation: Ensure all travel documents are readily accessible for a hassle-free check-in process.
