Introducing the Norwegian Viva
The maritime world is abuzz with excitement! Norwegian Cruise Line recently unveiled its newest gem: the Norwegian Viva. This magnificent vessel, the second of the groundbreaking Prima Class, embarked on its maiden voyage from the romantic canals of Venice (Trieste), Italy, marking a new chapter in luxury cruising.
Europe Beckons with Breathtaking Destinations
For those with wanderlust, the itinerary of the Norwegian Viva is nothing short of a dream. The ship’s maiden voyage promises a captivating nine-day sojourn through the heart of the Mediterranean. From the ethereal charm of Venice, it sails to the sun-kissed Lisbon, Portugal. Along the way, guests are treated to mesmerizing stops such as Salerno – the gateway to Italy’s famed Amalfi Coast; the glamorous Cannes in France’s Cote d’Azur, and the rhythmic beats of Ibiza in Spain’s Balearic Islands. What’s more, this floating wonder is scheduled to voyage through the mythical Greek Isles and other Mediterranean marvels until November. Then, as winter sets in, it’ll make San Juan, Puerto Rico, its temporary home, offering sun-seekers a taste of the Caribbean.
David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, couldn’t have put it better: “Live it Up” is not just a tagline for Norwegian Viva. It’s an experience, a chance for travelers to indulge in Europe’s lively cities and the Caribbean’s tropical wonders aboard a state-of-the-art vessel.
Aboard the Norwegian Viva: Luxury Reimagined
The design philosophy of Norwegian Viva takes cues from its esteemed sibling, the award-winning Norwegian Prima. This ship is not just about getting from point A to B, but also about the journey in between.
Race enthusiasts can experience the thrill of the Viva Speedway, a three-level racetrack. Foodies can embark on a culinary journey at the Indulge Food Hall with its 11 distinctive eateries. Adventure-seekers can brave the fastest slides at sea, The Drop and Rush. And for those who want to unwind with a drink in hand, the Metropolitan Bar, a symbol of NCL’s commitment to sustainability, awaits.
Yet, it’s not just the amenities that captivate. The Norwegian Viva is an art lover’s paradise. With an expansive collection, including The Concourse’s outdoor sculpture garden and the interactive digital masterpiece by British artist Dominic Harris titled “Every Wing Has a Silver Lining”, the ship promises to be a visual treat. And for entertainment? A riotous performance of “Beetlejuice The Musical” and the interactive game show “Press Your Luck LIVE” ensure endless merriment.
Celebrations on the Horizon
The festivities for Norwegian Viva don’t end with its maiden voyage. Come November 28, 2023, Miami will play host to the ship’s official Christening ceremony. Latin GRAMMY® award-winning artist Luis Fonsi, aptly named the godfather of Norwegian Viva, will grace the event. Joining him will be stars like the Queen of Latin Pop, Paulina Rubio, “Saturday Night Live” star Marcello Hernandez, and the mellifluous Pedro Capó.
Following this star-studded event, the ship sets sail for the Caribbean, touching the shores of idyllic destinations like Tortola, St. John’s, Bridgetown, Castries, Philipsburg, and St. Thomas.
European Encore in 2024
By May 2024, Norwegian Viva will return to where it all began, Europe. Its Mediterranean itineraries promise more in-depth experiences, giving travelers a generous 10.5 average hours at each port. Imagine the luxury of hopping from one European masterpiece to another, all while enjoying unparalleled comforts on board.
