Big news, cruise fans – Spike TV’s award-winning hit show “Lip Sync Battle” is coming to sea and you get to be involved!
The exclusive partnership between Spike TV and Carnival Cruise Line, Lip Sync Battle Carnival, will recreate the hit show on-board Carnival’s Fun Ships. Contestants will face-off in head-to-head competition against fellow cruise goers, where they will lip sync to their favorite songs.
“We’re delighted to offer this exciting new entertainment activity to our guests,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Lip Sync Battle Carnival takes the brand’s participatory fun to the next level, providing our guests with a chance to showcase their talents and demonstrate their creativity with their fellow guests cheering them on.”
Similar to the show on Spike, the stage will feature high-tech lighting, sound effects, and elaborate props and costumes. Need dancers for your act? No problem! Carnival will lend you dancers from their popular Playlist Productions shows, along with an authentic backdrop featuring the “Lip Sync Battle” marquee and DJ booth.
Here’s how it will work
At the beginning of the cruise, contestants will be chosen, following rounds of competitions held on the Lido Deck. Two finalists will be selected based on their originality, creativity, and of course, enthusiasm. If you have ever been on a Carnival cruise before, then you know the latter won’t be a problem for guests. Each finalist will have time to fine tune their performance and have the help of Carnival’s on-board entertainment experts, who will coordinate choreography, sets, props and accessories.
Now it’s showtime! Finalists will follow a custom video made by the Lip Sync Battle hosts, and as always, a fun introduction from the ship’s cruise director. They will lip sync their hearts out from a selection of more than 200 songs.
The second round will be kicked up a notch, with a full-scale production – costumes, sets and lighting. Finalists will attempt to recreate scenes from an iconic music video of their choosing and rock out, in hopes of impressing their cruise audience, who in the end will select the winner.
Lip Sync Battle Carnival is now live on the Carnival Vista ship, with a further rollout on select ships in 2017. There’s a good chance I will be experiencing this first-hand very soon, so stay tuned!
