If you’ve been following my twitter feed, you’ll know that I’m gearing up for a week in Austin to enjoy SXSW interactive and music. In honor of the event, I’ve put together the ultimate SXSW survival guide. My top 3 tools and resources to survive the city of Austin in style.
#1 RESQWATER
Booze is a big part of SXSW. It’s everywhere and its usually free. To be able to make it through each day you simply cannot have a constant hangover. To avoid this, I’ll be loading up on the anti-hangover drink RESQWATER. The crew over there recently hooked me up with a case that I plan to put to good use. It’s recommended to have 1 RESQWATER per every 2-4 drinks you consume. May sound like a lot, but trust me, the last thing you want to be is hungover and missing out on everything cool happening at SXSW. Don’t forget to finish off a bottle before you hit the sheets and you’ll be right as rain in the morning.
#2 MOPHIE IPHONE CASE
You’ll rarely spend a moment in your hotel room, and any socket to charge is hard to come by (especially during interactive). So plan on needing an extra battery, I recommend using Mophie, its an easy way to double your battery life (which believe it or not, still probably won’t be enough).
#3 SXSW APP
Navigating an event as big as SXSW can be overwhelming. Download the app in advance to make sure you know what’s happening and when. Each year, the app gets better and better and this year the app provides a lot of great info:
Lineup – Browse the entire event list category.
Schedule – View sessions by day and create custom filters to find exactly what you are looking for. Access SessionLive to join the discussion and interact with the audience and presenters at select sessions.
Locations – Find venues by list or map, get directions, browse internal floor plans.
Attendees (SXSocial) – Activate your SXSocial account to network with thousands of other attendees.
Exhibitors – Browse trade show exhibitors and find them on an interactive map
My Favorites – Build your personal schedule and sync with your online account or between devices.
My Friends – See who you know at SXSW and see what sessions they are attending, then share your personal schedule with them.
