You probably know Marc Mondavi from being born into America’s foremost family associated with exceptional wine. What you may not know is his unique ability of locating underground water using divining rods, hence the name of his Willamette Valley Pinot Noir: The Divining Rod.
Winemaking Notes
New French oak barrels, in medium and medium-plus toast, were used to provide the framework and subtle oak, without overshadowing its vibrant fruit. Grapes were farmed from a number of sites within the Oregon wine growing region best known for producing top-notch Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes
The Divining Rod is balanced and complex. It features earthy aromas of cranberry and dried fruits, and is finished by lighter notes of black cherry, cinnamon and clove. A medium-mouthfeel is developed from its fine tannins and bright acidity, which celebrate its delicate framework. The vibrant fruity flavors leave a welcoming finish that lingers on-and-on. Perfection!
