The reality is that we have probably bought a practical vehicle because we have a family, or we’ve got the coolest car we could afford in our budget, which wasn’t quite the spec we had dreamed of. So, maybe it’s time to create the ultimate vehicle using what we already have.
In the car world, upgrades are not a new thing. For years people have been adding body kits and bigger wheels, customizing paint jobs and getting a power boost. Some spend far more than the car will ever be worth to create their perfect automobile. There are loads of ways you can upgrade your car without spending a fortune, especially if you are willing to do the work yourself.
An excellent place to start is with simple mods. Finding some better, bigger rims and getting low profile tires on. Unless you have a 4×4, then find BIGGER tires. Changing the wheels can make a massive difference to the overall look of your car. It’s also so simple, anyone with a jack and the right tools can do it.
If you are looking for something that has more of a racing feel, changing your steering wheel is a little harder than changing your wheels, but as you spend more time in your car than out of it, might give you the feel-good factor you are looking for. There are loads of options on the market, but momo is an excellent option that a lot of racing drivers use. If your car is fitted with an airbag, then it may be better to see a specialist. The air bag sensor clockspring would need to be removed, and if you get this wrong, it can be very dangerous. The result will be awesome and will leave you smiling every drive you take.
Body Kits are available for most makes and models of car. You can either look at manufacturer kits, or you can look at the retrofit market. They can give your vehicle a more streamlined look, or add some chunk to a muscle car. Fitting is something you can do yourself. However, preparation is everything. Retro kits often need to be sanded to fit well, and you may also need to use a little filler to smooth things off. Watch some YouTube videos. There are guides on there for almost every body kit you could imagine.
If you want more power, you can get it with a chip or remap, depending on the age of your car. Adding more power will give you a better BHP, and you may also find that your car becomes a little more economical. You will need a specialist for this, but it is a relatively inexpensive process.
There are lots of other ways you can upgrade your car and build your dream version and, because you have put so much hard work into it, you’ll probably prefer it over anything else!
