The Chef’s Table on Princess Cruises is a highly coveted, sought-after dining experience everyone should try at least once in their life. I had the pleasure of reviewing a Chef’s Table while on Discovery Princess, Princess Cruises’ newest ship. It was a food journey I won’t soon forget.
Chef’s Table on Princess Cruises
Our highly intimate evening begins with our meeting at the Crown Grill bar. Once all 12 guests are there, Timothy walks us to the main dining room to our private table to be seated. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the Chef’s Table staff serving us for the evening, as well as Daniel Tanchev (Executive Chef) and Francisco Patricio (Director of Restaurant Operations). After the warm welcome and champagne toast, a star-like current surrounded our room to close our table off from the rest of the dining room.
Short Video Documenting My Princess Cruises Chef’s Table Experience
Watch my video below where I document and explain the evening, and then scroll down for more photos and full explanations of each dish and wine pairing.
Chef’s Table Menu + Photos
Our first course, the amuse bouche, was a great indication of what was to come. Oyster with Pink Grapefruit, Goat Cheese, Cucumber, and Caviar.
Crispy Bread, Lime Shrimp, Duck Breast, and Wasabi Mayonnaise; Seared Hokkaido Sea Scallops with Green Peas Puree and Caviar Vitello Tonnato; and Peach and Roma Tomato Salad, and Tarragon.
Timothy shared with us the first wine of the evening, following our champagne toast.
It was a Silverado Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley. Sadly, this was the only wine I took photos of, but here is the list of everything else served to us. Domaine Chandon Brut, Pauline Lhote, California and Caro from Mendoza, Argentina.
Creamy Asparagus Velouté with Summer Truffle and Tomato Concasse.
Tomato Water Risotto with Alaskan Crab, Buratta Cheese, and Navelli Saffron Pistill.
To refresh the palate and prepare for the main course, the chef brought us this beautiful sorbet. Cucumber and Raspberries Sorbet Served with Beefeater’s Gin.
Now for the main event. Beef Filet Mignon with Black Garlic Pizzaiola Style Lamb loin Medallion Avocado Shallots and Corn Flakes, Salmon Confit, Leek Potatoes Mush, and Champagne Sauce.
If you know me, you know I’m not a huge dessert person. But there was no way I wasn’t diving into this special treat. Chocolate Indulgence – Sweet Dark Chocolate with Passion Fruit Cremeux.
At the end of our meal, we received a copy of the Chef’s Table menu with the date to remember the special occasion.
How Much Does Chef’s Table Cost on Princess Cruises?
At the time of writing this, the Chef’s Table on Princess Cruises costs $95 per person. This includes the wine pairing for the evening. Those not looking to partake in the alcohol portion of the evening will be charged $80. Definitely a great value for what you’re served.
How to Book Chef’s Table
Though the highly coveted Chef’s Table on Princess Cruises is available to everyone, it doesn’t mean you will get a reservation on your next cruise. I can only share my personal experience in hopes of helping you lock in this truly unforgettable experience, but please take my advice with a grain of salt.
To book the Chef’s Table on your next Princess Cruises sailing I would recommend contacting the sales department to see if they can add a note to your itinerary. Once it’s boarding day, I would immediately head to the nearest specialty dining restaurant and see if you can speak with a manager. I did this as soon as I boarded to insure I got a seat at the Chef’s Table and it worked.
