Living just 30 minutes from St. Louis, I’m always on the lookout for unique weekend activities, especially as the colder months roll in. This year, Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton has given me the perfect excuse to head into the city with their reopening of The Chalet, a European-inspired rooftop bar that transforms the Clayton skyline into a chic winter retreat. Beginning on Friday, Nov. 8, The Chalet is back for the season, offering a cozy escape every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Dec. 29.

If you’re like me and you’re ready to embrace the winter vibe without the need to pack up for a full-on ski trip, this is the spot to be. Inspired by the Alpine resorts of Europe, The Chalet brings a bit of that luxury lodge feel right to our backyard. Between the firepits, warm cocktails, a s’mores bar, and live music, it’s the perfect way to unwind after a long week. Not to mention, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try your hand at curling—yes, they’ve even got a curling rink on the roof.

What to Expect at The Chalet

The Chalet experience is tailored for different moods, with something for everyone across the weekend:

  • Fridays (5 – 8 p.m.): For $20, you’ll get general admission, access to live music, and all-you-can-eat s’mores at the build-your-own s’mores bar. If you want to add some friendly competition to your night, a 45-minute curling rink slot is available for $50.
  • Saturdays (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.): Looking for a laid-back afternoon? General admission is complimentary, and you can enjoy the cozy rooftop with open seating. If curling’s calling your name, book a time slot for $50, or, if you’re planning to gather friends or family, rent The Chalet Room—a private ski-lodge-inspired space for up to 10 guests with champagne, beer, and your own private restroom for $300.
  • Sundays (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.): Perfect for a leisurely brunch vibe. The same $50 curling rink rental and $300 Chalet Room package apply, but there’s also the option to simply grab a complimentary seat, sip on a warm drink, and take in the atmosphere.

What I particularly love is the option to personalize your visit. Whether you’re in the mood for a cozy, quiet afternoon by the firepit or a more social event with a group of friends in a private room, Le Meridien has set it up so you can make the experience your own.

Curling and More

If curling is something you’ve never tried, this is your chance! It’s a low-key, fun way to get competitive with friends or just try something new. Each 45-minute rental gives you plenty of time to get the hang of it (or at least enough time for some laughs).

The Chalet Room Experience

For those who want to take their experience up a notch, The Chalet Room provides a more intimate, indoor setting styled like a classic ski lodge, complete with its own private patio. With seating for up to 10 people, this makes a perfect setting for small group gatherings, corporate outings, or even a special occasion with family. At $300, the package includes two bottles of champagne, 10 beers, and the coziness of having your own space with access to all the fun outside.

More Than Just the Rooftop: La Fête Winter Room Package

Le Meridien’s winter celebration doesn’t stop at the rooftop. They’ve introduced a La Fête Winter Room Package for those looking to make a full weekend of it. It includes breakfast for two, a charcuterie board with a bottle of wine, and even a personalized gift-wrapping service—perfect if you’re already thinking ahead to the holidays. The package runs from Nov. 1 through Dec. 30, so there’s plenty of time to treat yourself to a mini winter retreat without leaving the city.

Make Your Reservation

With such a perfect winter escape so close to home, you can bet I’ll be heading over to The Chalet more than once this season. If you’re interested in going too, make sure to grab your tickets on Eventbrite—especially for Fridays, where general admission is $20. For Saturdays and Sundays, reservations are strongly encouraged to secure a spot, particularly if you plan on curling or renting the Chalet Room.
